Science and spirit in balance—Nepal’s traditions of healing meet state-of-the-art care.

KIH represents a new chapter in healthcare for Nepal. Designed as a 300-bed hospital with 80 intensive care units and 12 operating theatres, the project brings together advanced medical infrastructure with cultural continuity. The façade is inspired by Kathmandu’s brick architecture, translating centuries-old craft into a dignified, contemporary expression.

Inside, the hospital reflects Nepal’s spiritual heritage: dhaka fabric patterns and natural motifs soften the environment, while interiors take inspiration from the healing power of nature and the Himalayas. Courtyards and daylight act as orientation devices, reducing stress and creating places for rest and reflection.

Operationally, the plan addresses the complexities of medical flows—public, patient, sterile, and service routes are segregated yet efficient. Departments are clustered for speed and clarity. This optimization lowers costs and enhances care delivery.

The design bridges science and spirit: technical precision with cultural resonance, efficiency with dignity. Kathmandu International Hospital becomes more than a healthcare facility—it is a place where the modern practice of medicine meets Nepal’s timeless healing traditions.
