1,200 beds · 330 critical care beds · 30 Operating Theatres · 2 million sq.ft.
At flagship scale, complexity is organised into systems of clarity that strengthen care and recovery.
Medanta Gurgaon is the flagship 1,200-bed tertiary care hospital spread over 2 million sq.ft. With 330 critical care beds and 30 operating theatres, the design negotiates unprecedented complexity with clarity. Segregated routes for patients, staff, and sterile services compress distances while ensuring safety. Landscaped gardens, daylight, and crafted interiors bring dignity and comfort to this high-acuity environment, reinforcing the hospital as both a machine for care and a place of healing.
The architecture organizes this complexity into systems of clarity: sterile cores and modular operating theatres enable fast turnarounds; stacked critical care units reduce transfer time; public, patient, and service flows are strictly separated yet intuitively legible. This optimization lowers operational costs and improves staff efficiency. At the same time, landscaped courtyards and gardens bring air and light deep into the plan. Patient rooms and waiting areas are oriented toward daylight and calm materials, creating psychological comfort. Medanta Gurgaon shows how design can enhance both healthcare delivery and human recovery.
